I'll be soon posting some links to web sites I feel support my view of what's GOOD in a photographer's web gallery. But here is a few lines I strongly believe in:

1. Navigation must be intuitive, fast, and flexible
2. Overall design/color scheme must complement displayed work, or else it'll become a detractor
3. While I don't mind Flash, it's use must be well thought out and not overpowering, many go overboard in this regard and it seems Flash has no end to it
4. Whatever is done, it must help keep focus on the images, anything that draws attention from them is not welcome
5. Images need to load fast, this has been often slowed down by either lack of code (or navigation) optimization or simply an inadequate hosting set up. Recently I came across a site that was 100% Flash and virtually Everything loaded so slow, I never made it past the second gallery.

Then comes the hosting package. I'll review a few hosts that I have found good and reliable. I have not tried any of the MAJOR cheap packages, but partly due to the information I had been able to gather prior to choosing one. It seems, that none of the many $5 per month super deals for huge storage/bandwidth are NOT the way to go. I still hear people paying a FULL ($30) price for domain registration ... why?

More on above in subsequent posts, it's getting late.
